This Assay Genie kit enables quantitative measurement of SMG1 (Serine/threonine-protein kinase SMG1), a ~400 kDa phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-related kinase that acts as the central effector of the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) surveillance pathway. Researchers investigating NMD regulation, telomere maintenance, and the DNA damage response employ this microplate-based immunoassay in studies of SMG1's emerging roles as a tumor suppressor in lung and breast cancer models and its involvement in ionizing radiation-induced stress signaling.
