The Assay Genie Human SMAC ELISA Kit provides researchers with a quantitative tool for measuring Second Mitochondria-derived Activator of Caspases (SMAC, also known as DIABLO) in human-derived samples. SMAC is a pro-apoptotic mitochondrial protein released from the intermembrane space during apoptosis, where it binds and neutralizes inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) to amplify caspase activation. Quantifying its release supports studies of programmed cell death, mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization, mitochondrial dysfunction, and oncology drug screening pipelines.

Supplied as a 96 assays kit with the reagents required for cell culture supernatant workflows and clinical specimen analysis, the assay is validated for immunoreactive detection of the human SMAC target and is intended for research use only.
