The Human SLC4A4 ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of the electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter 1 (NBCe1), a membrane transporter encoded by the SLC4A4 gene that is highly expressed in renal proximal tubules, pancreatic ducts, corneal endothelium, and certain neuronal populations. The assay supports research into bicarbonate transport, intracellular pH regulation, and the molecular basis of proximal renal tubular acidosis with ocular abnormalities arising from NBCe1 loss-of-function mutations. Each kit ships with a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, standard calibrators, and substrate reagents. A sample volume of 100 µL per well is recommended, and reagents should be stored refrigerated at 4°C; aliquoted working solutions should be protected from repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity.
