The SLC25A22 protein is a mitochondrial glutamate/H⁺ symporter (GC1) located on the inner mitochondrial membrane, associated with early infantile epileptic encephalopathy and neonatal seizure phenotypes when mutated. Investigators use this plate-based immunoassay when quantifying human SLC25A22 in studies of mitochondrial glutamate transport, neuronal bioenergetics, and genotype–phenotype correlations in SLC25A22-linked neurological disease. Reagents are configured for quantitative two-antibody capture protocols against the human target, calibrated for measurements in serum-derived and plasma-derived human specimens with detection specificity for human SLC25A22 and no validated cross-reactivity against rodent Slc25a22 orthologs.
