The SHOX gene encodes a homeodomain transcription factor essential for skeletal development and longitudinal bone growth, mapped to the pseudoautosomal region of the X and Y chromosomes. Loss-of-function alterations in this locus are linked to Léri-Weill dyschondrosteosis, Langer mesomelic dysplasia, and idiopathic short stature, making quantitative protein measurement valuable for growth disorder research.

This in vitro immunoassay enables quantitative detection of human SHOX in serum or plasma specimens and is validated specifically for the human SHOX protein, with no significant cross-reactivity with murine or rat Shox homologs.
