SETDB1 (SET Domain Bifurcated Histone Lysine Methyltransferase 1) is an H3K9-specific histone methyltransferase that deposits repressive H3K9me2/3 marks, drives heterochromatin formation, and has been linked to embryonic stem cell maintenance, X-chromosome inactivation, and oncogenic progression in lung and breast cancer.
