SETD7 (also called SET9 or KMT7) is a protein lysine methyltransferase that catalyzes monomethylation of histone H3 at lysine 4 (H3K4me1) and non-histone substrates including the tumor suppressor p53. This enzymatic activity links SETD7 to chromatin regulation, transcriptional control, and DNA damage response pathways, making it a target of interest in cancer biology, inflammation, and metabolic disease research. Measuring SETD7 protein levels in human blood-derived specimens supports biomarker discovery and expression profiling studies.
