Description

A Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of SEPP1 (Selenoprotein P; synonyms SELP, SeP) levels in human samples. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is intended for use with serum, plasma and other biological fluids, with a recommended sample volume of 100 μL. The associated UniProt ID is P49908, and the kit is suited to research areas including Developmental Biology and Metabolism.

The workflow follows a Sandwich-ELISA principle: standards or samples are added to pre-coated microplate wells, followed by a biotinylated detection antibody and an Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate. After substrate addition and stop solution, optical density is measured at 450 nm ± 2 nm. Reported sensitivity is 0.1 ng/mL with a detection range of 0.16-10 ng/mL and an assay time of 3 h 30 min. Typical recovery is 80%-120%. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human SEPP1 and analogues was observed.

SEPP1 is a key selenoprotein involved in the transport and regulation of selenium in the body, playing a critical role in antioxidant defense and immune function. Kit components are stored at 2-8°C, with the microplate stored at -20°C. The kit supports applications exploring SEPP1 as a biomarker in conditions such as thyroid disease, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer.
