Human Semenogelin-1 (SEMG1) ELISA Kit

A sandwich-format ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Semenogelin-1 (SEMG1). The assay uses colorimetric detection and is reactive with human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 1.56–100 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.045 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 5.2% (CV) and inter-assay precision is 9.7% (CV). Linearity across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions (N=5) is 82–114% for serum, 80–122% for EDTA plasma, and 84–117% for heparin plasma. Recovery averages 101% in serum (range 95–107%) and 103% in plasma (range 97–109%). Specificity has been demonstrated against natural and recombinant human Semenogelin-1.

Semenogelin-1 is the predominant protein in semen, contributing to the gel matrix that entraps accessory gland secretions and ejaculated spermatozoa. Its proteolytic derivatives alpha-inhibin-92 and alpha-inhibin-31 inhibit the secretion of pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone. The protein is secreted and falls within the cancer research area.
