The SEMA3E protein is a secreted class 3 semaphorin that signals through the PlexinD1 receptor to direct axon repulsion during embryonic neural development, pattern growing vasculature, and guide immune cell trafficking. In cancer biology, aberrant SEMA3E expression has been tied to invasive behavior and metastatic colonization in breast and lung carcinoma models, while in neuroscience it modulates synaptic wiring and dendritic spine morphology. The full-length ~90 kDa precursor is cleaved by furin-like proteases to release an active ~65 kDa fragment that drives downstream Rho-GTPase and PI3K signaling cascades.

This quantitative ELISA from Assay Genie enables researchers to measure endogenous SEMA3E concentrations across human biofluids and tissue extracts, including serum samples, plasma samples, tissue homogenates, and cell lysates. The assay uses a 100 uL sample volume loaded into a pre-coated microplate, with a chromogenic readout on standard plate readers. Unopened components should be stored refrigerated at 4 degrees C; reconstituted standards and patient samples are best kept frozen at -20 degrees C with limited freeze-thaw cycles to preserve immunoreactivity. Intended for research use only in academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical laboratories investigating angiogenesis, neurodevelopment, tumor microenvironment biology, or biomarker discovery.
