Secretory IgA (sIgA) is the predominant antibody isotype found in mucosal secretions, including saliva, tears, breast milk, and respiratory and gastrointestinal tract fluids. It serves as a frontline defender at mucosal surfaces, blocking pathogen attachment and neutralizing toxins at points of entry into the body. The dimeric IgA molecule, joined by a J chain and complexed with the secretory component acquired during epithelial transcytosis, resists proteolytic degradation in the harsh mucosal environment.

This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie supports research into mucosal immunity in infection models, vaccine response profiling, gut barrier integrity, oral health studies, exercise- and stress-related immune changes, and neonatal immunity through breast milk analysis. Reagents are supplied pre-coated on a microplate, enabling quantitative measurement of sIgA in human specimens with a recommended sample volume of 50 µL.
