SFRP4 is a member of the secreted frizzled-related protein family that functions as a modulator of Wnt signalling through direct interaction with Wnts, with roles in regulating cell growth and differentiation. Dysregulation of SFRP4 has been linked to cancer, metabolic disorders and inflammatory conditions. According to UniProt (entry Q6FHJ7), SFRP4 may act as a regulator of adult uterine morphology and function, can increase apoptosis during ovulation via modulation of FZ1/FZ4/WNT4 signalling, and exerts phosphaturic effects by specifically inhibiting sodium-dependent phosphate uptake. The protein is secreted, with cytoplasmic localisation also reported in ovarian tumour cells, and the associated research area is Cancer.

Reported performance includes a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.076ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.7% and inter-assay CV is 7.5%. Recovery averages 83% in serum (range 80-89%) and 85% in plasma (range 80-91%), with linearity demonstrated across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions of serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma.
