Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit enables quantitative measurement of human Scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1 protein M130 (CD163) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. CD163 is a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily, exclusively expressed in monocytes and macrophages, where it functions as an acute phase-regulated receptor for the clearance and endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes. The protein is involved in regulating inflammation and immune responses and has been implicated in arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and inflammatory conditions, making it a valuable biomarker for research into these disorders.

The kit employs an ELISA detection method with reactivity confirmed for human samples. Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.1ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 5.3% and inter-assay CV is 9.9%. Linearity has been validated in serum (95-117%), EDTA plasma (97-126%), and heparin plasma (82-117%) across dilution factors from 1:2 to 1:16. Recovery averages 104% in serum (98-110%) and 106% in plasma (100-112%). Specificity is directed against natural and recombinant human CD163.

After shedding, the soluble form sCD163 may play an anti-inflammatory role and may serve as a diagnostic parameter for monitoring macrophage activation in inflammatory conditions. The kit is supplied in a solid phase format and is intended for research use only. The associated UniProt entry is Q86VB7.
