SCARB1 is a plasma membrane receptor that plays a key role in lipid metabolism, acting as a probable receptor for HDL and facilitating the flux of free and esterified cholesterol between the cell surface and extracellular donors and acceptors. The protein is involved in regulating cholesterol homeostasis and reverse cholesterol transport, and dysregulation of SCARB1 has been linked to cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, and atherosclerosis, making it a valuable biomarker for studying these conditions.

The kit is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids. Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312-20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.1 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.7% and inter-assay CV is 8.6%. Linearity has been demonstrated across multiple dilutions for serum (101-111% to 108-120%), EDTA plasma (104-114% to 107-117%), and heparin plasma (108-118% to 109-119%).
