Human Ribose-5-phosphate isomerase (RPIA) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie provides this ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of human Ribose-5-phosphate isomerase (RPIA), an enzyme of the pentose phosphate pathway involved in cellular energy generation that has been implicated in metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative conditions and cancer. The kit is designed to detect natural and recombinant human RPIA in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and is intended for research use only.

Manufacturer datasheet figures give a detection range of 1.56-100 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.95 ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 5.4% and an inter-assay CV of 10.8%. Linearity has been verified in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across serial dilutions, and recovery is reported as 89% (range 83-95%) for serum and 91% (range 85-97%) for plasma.

RPIA catalyses the reversible conversion between ribose-5-phosphate and ribulose-5-phosphate within the pentose-phosphate pathway, and defects in the enzyme are known to cause ribose 5-phosphate isomerase deficiency, a condition described in a patient presenting with leukoencephalopathy and peripheral neuropathy alongside elevated levels of the polyols ribitol and D-arabitol in body fluids.
