This Assay Genie quantitative immunoassay targets Regulator of G-protein Signaling 11 (RGS11), a member of the R7 subfamily that binds Gα subunits and accelerates intrinsic GTPase activity to terminate G-protein-coupled receptor signaling. RGS11 forms an obligate heterodimer with G-protein subunit β5 (Gβ5) via its GGL domain, and its DEP domain mediates membrane targeting in neuronal cells.

The protein is most highly expressed in retinal photoreceptor outer segments, where it shapes the kinetics of the phototransduction recovery phase, and it is also present in olfactory sensory neurons and within ON-bipolar cells of the inner retina, where it participates in mGluR6 signal termination. The kit has been validated for quantitative detection of human, mouse, and rat RGS11 in tissue homogenates and cell lysates. The microplate-based kit ships with a precoated 96 Assays format plate, lyophilized standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, substrate solution, and wash buffer; reconstituted reagents should be aliquoted and stored frozen to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Unused well plate strips may be refrigerated in the sealed foil pouch with desiccant. The assay is intended for research use only and is suited for neuroscience, ophthalmology, and signal transduction laboratories investigating GPCR pathway regulation.
