Human Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) ELISA Kit

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is intended for the precise quantitative measurement of human Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay is colorimetric, with absorbance read at 450 nm, and is specific for natural and recombinant human Retinol-binding protein 4.

RBP4 is a secreted lipocalin-family protein that delivers retinol from hepatic stores to peripheral tissues; in plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin, which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. Altered circulating RBP4 has been linked to metabolic disorders such as obesity, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, making it a valuable biomarker for signal transduction research.

Validated performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.052 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 3.8% and an inter-assay CV of 7.6%. Linearity has been verified in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across serial dilutions, with average recoveries of 92% in serum and 94% in plasma. For research use only.
