Human Renin (REN) ELISA Kit

Supplied by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA is designed for the precise measurement of human renin (REN) levels in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Renin is a highly specific endopeptidase whose only known function is to generate angiotensin I from angiotensinogen in the plasma, initiating a cascade that elevates blood pressure and increases renal sodium retention.

The colorimetric assay delivers a detection range of 31.2–2000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 15.11 pg/mL, with intra-assay CV of 4.8% and inter-assay CV of 6.5%. Linearity was demonstrated across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions in serum (N=5, range 92–117%), EDTA plasma (N=5, range 89–120%) and heparin plasma (N=5, range 90–113%). Recovery averages 99% for serum (range 93–105%) and 101% for plasma (range 95–107%). The assay specifically recognises natural and recombinant human Renin.

The target protein, also known as Angiotensinogenase (UniProt P00797), is a secreted aspartic-type endopeptidase with a molecular weight of 44,726 Da that interacts with ATP6AP2. For research use only.
