REEP6 (Receptor Expression Enhancing Protein 6) belongs to the REEP/DP1/Yop1 protein family involved in shaping the endoplasmic reticulum membrane through interactions with atlastins and reticulons. Mutations in this gene have been implicated in autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa (arRP), making the protein a focus of retinal degeneration and photoreceptor biology research.
