Reelin is a large secreted extracellular matrix glycoprotein best known for guiding neuronal migration and laminar positioning during cortical and cerebellar development. The Assay Genie Human Reelin (RL) ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of this protein in human-derived research samples using a plate-based immunoassay, and it continues to be used to investigate Reelin's roles in adult synaptic plasticity, learning, memory, and neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders including schizophrenia, autism spectrum conditions, Alzheimer's disease, and lissencephaly.

Researchers in neurobiology, neuropsychiatric biomarker discovery, and developmental neuroscience commonly use this reagent to quantify Reelin concentrations, with absorbance read on a standard microplate reader. Each kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, recombinant protein standards, detection reagents, and buffers needed to generate a standard curve for interpolation of unknown sample concentrations.

The assay is for research use only and supports studies exploring how Reelin concentrations shift in disease states, in response to pharmacological interventions, or across developmental stages. For sample handling, freshly collected samples should be processed promptly, aliquoted to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and stored frozen until assay; cleared tissue homogenates prepared with protease inhibitors are also accepted as input. This reagent is widely cited in studies of brain-derived biomarker panels, postmortem tissue analysis, and clinical investigations of cognitive decline.
