The 37 kDa protein is a direct functional readout of homologous recombination capacity and is widely investigated in cancer biology, particularly in studies of BRCA1/BRCA2 pathway function, PARP inhibitor sensitivity, and acquired chemoresistance in tumors with defective DNA repair.
