Human [Pyruvate dehydrogenase [lipoamide]] kinase isozyme 1, mitochondrial (PDK1) ELISA Kit

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of human [Pyruvate dehydrogenase [lipoamide]] kinase isozyme 1, mitochondrial (PDK1). It is intended for research use only and recognises natural and recombinant human PDK1, also referred to as PDHK1 or PDH kinase 1.

The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is suitable for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Performance characteristics reported by the manufacturer include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.17 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.7% and an inter-assay CV of 8.3%. Linearity data for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma are reported across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions, with serum recovery averaging 99% (range 93–105%) and plasma recovery averaging 101% (range 95–107%).

PDK1 is a mitochondrial matrix kinase that plays a key role in the regulation of glucose and fatty acid metabolism and homeostasis via phosphorylation of the pyruvate dehydrogenase subunits PDHA1 and PDHA2, thereby controlling metabolite flux through the tricarboxylic acid cycle. It contributes to cellular responses to hypoxia, supports cell proliferation under hypoxic conditions and protects cells against apoptosis under hypoxia and oxidative stress. The kit is suited to research applications in areas such as cancer and metabolic disease.
