Description

A high-quality sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise quantitative measurement of human pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component subunit alpha, testis-specific form, mitochondrial (PDHA2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses natural and recombinant human PDHA2 as standard and is reactive with human samples, supporting research applications in metabolic and mitochondrial biology.

The kit delivers a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.067 ng/mL. Reproducibility is reported with an intra-assay CV of 4.9% and an inter-assay CV of 8.2%. Linearity has been validated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, with serum recovery averaging 101% (range 95–107%) and plasma recovery averaging 103% (range 97–109%). Detection uses a sandwich ELISA format with colorimetric readout, and the kit is intended for research use only.

PDHA2 is a testis-specific mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyses the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate, producing acetyl-CoA and CO2. It functions as the E1 component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, linking the glycolytic pathway to the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and is expressed in postmeiotic spermatogenic cells. Dysregulation of PDHA2 has been linked to metabolic disorders and mitochondrial diseases, making it a useful biomarker for those areas of study.
