PDHA1 is a mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyses the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA, providing the primary link between glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle (UniProt P08559). Specificity covers natural and recombinant human PDHA1, with synonyms including PDHE1-A type I and PHE1A. Dysregulation of PDHA1 has been linked to metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer, highlighting its importance as a biomarker.

Assay Genie offers this assay in two specifications: one with a detection range of 1.56–100 nmol/L and sensitivity of 0.89 nmol/L, and a second using double-antibody sandwich ELISA with a range of 0.313–20 ng/ml and sensitivity below 0.188 ng/ml. The double-antibody format reports intra-assay CV <8%, inter-assay CV <10%, and recovery of 85–105% in serum (average 95%), 93–101% in EDTA plasma (average 98%) and 94–105% in heparin plasma (average 100%).
