Pregnane X Receptor (PXR, NR1I2) is a ligand-activated nuclear receptor that acts as a master regulator of xenobiotic and drug metabolism, controlling the expression of CYP3A4 and additional cytochrome P450 enzymes in hepatocytes and intestinal tissue. This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie enables researchers to measure human PXR protein in research specimens, supporting studies in pharmacology, hepatotoxicity, drug-drug interactions, and nuclear receptor signaling research.

PXR dysregulation has been linked to cholestasis, hepatic steatosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and altered cellular responses to xenobiotics, making accurate quantification relevant for both basic research and preclinical safety work. The assay is intended for research use only and is supplied as a complete kit with the capture antibodies, reagents, and buffers needed to run a full microplate of samples alongside a standard curve for interpolation of unknown concentrations.

This kit has been applied in published work examining PXR activation by pharmaceuticals, herbal compounds, and environmental contaminants, and supports workflows that require distinguishing basal versus induced receptor expression in cell culture models, primary hepatocytes, and clinical research specimens. For laboratories building mechanistic toxicology panels or characterizing novel nuclear receptor ligands, the assay provides a complementary readout alongside CYP3A4 activity assays and downstream gene expression studies.
