Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit enables quantitative detection of human Putative RNA-binding protein 3 (RBM3), also referred to as RNA-binding motif protein 3 and RNPL. The kit is reactive with human samples and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Reported specificity covers natural and recombinant human RNA-binding protein 3, and the kit is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 23pg/ml. Precision is reported with an Intra CV of 4.4% and an Inter CV of 8.3%. Linearity was assessed across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma, yielding ranges of 98-108% to 83-93% for serum, 98-107% to 82-92% for EDTA plasma, and 102-113% to 117-126% for heparin plasma. Average recovery was 98% (range 92-104%) in serum and 100% (range 94-106%) in plasma.

RBM3 is a cold-inducible mRNA binding protein that enhances global protein synthesis at both physiological and mild hypothermic temperatures, reduces the relative abundance of microRNAs when overexpressed, and enhances phosphorylation of translation initiation factors and active polysome formation. Its dysregulation has been linked to several diseases, making it relevant for studying pathophysiological mechanisms. The protein localises to the nucleus, cytoplasm, cell projections and dendrites and associates with the 60S ribosomal subunits in an RNA-independent manner. UniProt reference: P98179.
