Description

Protocadherin 15 (PCDH15) is a calcium-dependent cell-adhesion protein belonging to the protocadherin subfamily of the cadherin superfamily. It contributes to the structural organization of inner ear hair cell stereocilia and operates as part of the mechanotransduction apparatus in sensory hair cells, where it interacts with cadherin 23 to form transient lateral links and tip-link components.

Mutations in the PCDH15 gene are causally linked to Usher syndrome type 1F and to autosomal recessive non-syndromic hearing loss (DFNB23), making the protein of strong interest for ophthalmology and auditory neuroscience research programs studying hereditary sensory disorders.

This quantitative immunoassay kit from Assay Genie is configured for human research samples and accepts inputs such as tissue homogenates and cell lysates. Investigators exploring hereditary deafness, retinal degeneration, hair bundle biophysics, or related cell adhesion mechanisms can apply the kit to in vitro and tissue-based protein expression studies. Each kit supplies reagents sufficient for 96 individual determinations and is suitable for absorbance-based readout on standard laboratory plate readers.

All components are intended for research use only and have not been validated for diagnostic or clinical applications. Storage recommendations should be confirmed against the product insert prior to first use, and the kit is compatible with routine immunology and cell biology workflows that employ a microplate format.
