Human Prothrombin (F2) ELISA Kit

Designed for the quantitative detection of prothrombin levels in human samples, this Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie supports research into coagulation biology and related disorders. Prothrombin, also known as coagulation factor II, is a central protein in the blood clotting cascade, where it is cleaved to form thrombin. The kit reports a detection range of 0.78-50 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.32 ng/mL. Reproducibility figures are given as an Intra CV of 5.4% and an Inter CV of 7.1%. Linearity across dilutions (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16) spans 95-107% to 112-120% in serum, 94-103% to 85-94% in EDTA plasma, and 94-104% to 86-96% in heparin plasma. Recovery averages 81% in serum (range 80-87%) and 83% in plasma (range 80-89%). Specificity covers both natural and recombinant human prothrombin, and the assay is for research use only.

Thrombin, the activated form of prothrombin, cleaves bonds after Arg and Lys, converts fibrinogen to fibrin, and activates factors V, VII, VIII, XIII, and, in complex with thrombomodulin, protein C. It functions in blood homeostasis, inflammation and wound healing. The protein is expressed by the liver and secreted into plasma, localising to the extracellular space, and circulates as a disulfide-linked heterodimer (alpha-thrombin) of a light and a heavy chain that can also form a heterodimer with SERPINA5.
