Human Proteoglycan 4 (PRG4) ELISA Kit

This sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of human Proteoglycan 4 (PRG4) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is reactive against human samples and recognizes both natural and recombinant human Proteoglycan 4. Synonyms for the target protein include lubricin, megakaryocyte-stimulating factor, superficial zone proteoglycan, MSF and SZP.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the detection range is 1.56–100ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.87ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.5% and inter-assay CV is 8.3%. Spiking recovery averages 101% (range 95–107%) in serum and 103% (range 97–109%) in plasma. Linearity across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum spans 80–118%, in EDTA plasma 80–106%, and in heparin plasma 89–122%. The kit is for research use only.

PRG4 is a disulfide-linked homodimer that is secreted into the extracellular space. It functions as a boundary lubricant within articulating joints, preventing protein deposition onto cartilage from synovial fluid. Abnormal PRG4 levels have been associated with joint disorders such as osteoarthritis, and mutations are linked to camptodactyly-arthropathy-coxa vara-pericarditis (CACP) syndrome.
