Protein Z (PROZ) is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein that circulates as a cofactor for protein Z-dependent protease inhibitor (ZPI), accelerating the inhibition of activated factor X in the coagulation cascade. This Assay Genie ELISA Kit is configured for quantitative measurement of human PROZ in plasma samples using a microplate-based protocol.
Protein Z concentrations in circulating blood are clinically relevant to coagulation research, with reported associations between altered PROZ levels and pregnancy complications, ischemic stroke, and bleeding tendencies. Investigators studying hemostasis, thrombosis risk, and vitamin K metabolism rely on reproducible PROZ quantitation across patient cohorts.
The kit includes a pre-coated microplate, detection antibody, calibrators, and assay buffer sufficient to evaluate up to 96 determinations in duplicate. Plasma is collected with standard anticoagulant protocols (citrate or EDTA), and absorbance is recorded on a standard plate reader.
Researchers use this reagent to characterize PROZ expression in disease-versus-control cohorts, monitor changes during anticoagulant therapy, or explore PROZ as a candidate biomarker in cardiovascular studies. Each lot is validated for the human protein target.
