S100A9, also known as calgranulin B, is a calcium- and zinc-binding protein that plays a prominent role in the regulation of inflammatory processes and immune response. Elevated levels of S100A9 have been associated with various inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and sepsis, making it a valuable biomarker for monitoring and studying these diseases.

The assay delivers a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 19.5 pg/mL. Precision is characterised by an intra-assay CV of 5.8% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. Linearity has been validated in serum (93-126% across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions), EDTA plasma (85-118%), and heparin plasma (96-119%). Recovery averages 103% for serum (range 97-109%) and 105% for plasma (range 99-111%). Specificity is established for both natural and recombinant human Protein S100-A9, referenced under UniProt P06702.
