Elevated levels have been implicated in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and cardiovascular disease.

Quantitative performance includes a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 7.8pg/mL. Precision is reported as an Intra CV of 4.4% and an Inter CV of 8.3%. The assay specifically detects natural and recombinant human Protein S100-A12. Validated linearity spans serum (95-105%, 84-94%, 115-125%, 86-95% at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16 dilutions), EDTA plasma (101-113%, 86-96%, 83-96%, 86-96%) and heparin plasma (100-112%, 81-92%, 92-102%, 90-99%). Recovery averages 94% in serum (range 88-100%) and 96% in plasma (range 90-102%).
