The Assay Genie immunoassay kit enables quantitative measurement of Proteasome Subunit Alpha Type 7, a core structural component of the 20S proteolytic complex that drives ubiquitin-dependent protein turnover in eukaryotic cells. PSMa7 contributes to the assembly of the proteasome α-ring and is implicated in regulating cell cycle progression, NF-κB signaling, apoptosis, and the cellular response to oxidative and proteotoxic stress. Aberrant expression of PSMa7 has been reported in several tumor types, where altered proteasome activity supports rapid proliferation and survival of cancer cells, making the subunit a target of interest in oncology research and in studies of neurodegenerative and immune-related disorders.

Supplied as a microplate kit, the assay accepts tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and related sample matrices as input material, with each kit providing reagents for 96 individual determinations to support routine screening across sample cohorts as well as focused mechanistic studies. The assay is validated for reactivity with human samples, allowing investigators working with patient-derived tissue or cultured human cell lines to measure endogenous PSMa7 protein abundance under varying experimental conditions.

Typical laboratory applications include profiling proteasome subunit expression in disease versus normal tissue, monitoring changes in PSMa7 abundance following pharmacologic inhibition of the ubiquitin-proteasome system, and tracking subunit composition during differentiation or stress challenge. By providing a quantitative readout of PSMa7 protein, the kit complements downstream approaches such as western blot, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture-based assays, helping researchers connect proteasome composition to functional outcomes in basic and translational studies.
