Description

A reliable and sensitive Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie for the accurate detection of Prostatic acid phosphatase (ACPP) levels in human samples. The kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of natural and recombinant human Prostatic acid phosphatase and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It employs a colorimetric ELISA detection method and is supplied for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.625–40 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.22 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 5.2% CV, and inter-assay precision is 8.6% CV. Linearity has been validated across serial dilutions (1:2 to 1:16) in serum (95–105% to 105–114%), EDTA plasma (87–96% to 103–112%) and heparin plasma (90–103% to 100–110%). Average recovery is 97% (range 91–103%) in serum and 99% (range 93–105%) in plasma. The analyte is a homodimer, and dimer formation is required for phosphatase activity.

Prostatic acid phosphatase is a non-specific tyrosine phosphatase that belongs to the histidine acid phosphatase family. It is synthesised under androgen regulation and secreted by the epithelial cells of the prostate gland, and is widely used as a biomarker for prostate cancer diagnosis and monitoring. The cellular isoform (isoform 2) also possesses ecto-5'-nucleotidase activity in dorsal root ganglion neurons, generating adenosine from AMP which acts as a pain suppressor, and has been described as a tumour suppressor of prostate cancer through dephosphorylation of ERBB2 and deactivation of MAPK-mediated signalling. Synonyms include 5'-nucleotidase, Ecto-5'-nucleotidase, Thiamine monophosphatase, 5'-NT, TMPase and PAP. UniProt reference: P15309.
