Human Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (PTGS2) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie provides a sandwich-format ELISA kit using colorimetric detection for the quantitative measurement of human Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (PTGS2), also known as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Intended for research use only, the assay is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, and shows specificity for natural and recombinant human PTGS2.

Quoted performance figures include a detection range of 1.56-100ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.78ng/mL. Precision is reported as intra-assay CV 4.4% and inter-assay CV 8.5%. Linearity was tested in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Recovery testing gave average values of 106% (range 100-112%) for serum and 108% (range 102-114%) for plasma.

PTGS2 is an inducible enzyme that converts arachidonate to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2), a committed step in prostanoid synthesis, and has been implicated in inflammation, cancer and cardiovascular conditions. The kit is annotated for cardiovascular research, and PTGS2 (UniProt P35354) is described as a homodimer associated with microsome and endoplasmic reticulum membranes.
