Description

Designed by Assay Genie for the precise quantitative measurement of Prostaglandin G/H synthase 1 (PTGS1), also known as cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), this sandwich-format ELISA kit is validated for use with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay shows specificity for natural and recombinant human PTGS1 and is supplied for research use only.

The kit operates on a colorimetric ELISA principle with a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.11ng/mL. Precision data report an Intra CV of 5.1% and an Inter CV of 9.6%. Linearity across serial dilutions (1:2 to 1:16) falls within 97-106%, 96-108%, 91-101% and 111-120% for serum, 98-107%, 91-101%, 84-93% and 96-106% for EDTA plasma, and 103-113%, 99-110%, 110-110% and 86-94% for heparin plasma. Spike-and-recovery values average 101% (range 95-107%) for serum and 103% (range 97-109%) for plasma.

PTGS1 is a homodimeric enzyme with a molecular weight of 72,010 Da that converts arachidonate to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2), a committed step in prostanoid synthesis. It is constitutively active in the stomach and platelets, generating cytoprotective prostaglandin E2 in gastric epithelial cells and thromboxane A2 in platelets, and its dysregulation has been linked to inflammatory diseases, cardiovascular disorders and cancer.
