Properdin is the only known positive regulator of the alternative complement pathway, where it stabilizes the C3bBb convertase complex and amplifies downstream complement activation. This Assay Genie kit provides quantitative measurement of human properdin in cell culture supernatants, plasma, and serum samples, supporting research into complement-mediated immunity, meningococcal disease susceptibility, and inflammatory or autoimmune conditions.

The colorimetric immunoassay format is processed on a standard microplate, with reagents supplied for 96 assays per kit. The kit should be refrigerated upon arrival and protected from light. Properdin deficiency has been associated with increased risk of Neisseria meningitidis infection, while elevated levels appear in conditions involving alternative pathway overactivation, including atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), C3 glomerulopathy, and selected autoimmune disorders.
