Human Prokineticin-1 (PROK1) ELISA Kit

The assay is reactive with human Prokineticin-1 and recognizes both natural and recombinant forms of the target protein.

Prokineticin-1 is a secreted protein also referred to as Endocrine-gland-derived vascular endothelial growth factor, Mambakine, and EG-VEGF. Reported biological activities include potent contraction of gastrointestinal smooth muscle, induction of proliferation, migration and fenestration in capillary endothelial cells derived from endocrine glands, and promotion of proliferation and differentiation in enteric neural crest cells. The protein has also been linked to neuroblastoma progression, positive regulation of PTGS2 expression and prostaglandin synthesis, and roles in placentation and testis angiogenesis. According to the NCBI summary, its expression is restricted to steroidogenic glands (ovary, testis, adrenal, and placenta), is induced by hypoxia, and is often complementary to VEGF expression.
