Human Proinsulin (Proinsulin) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise measurement of human proinsulin levels in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. Proinsulin is the prohormone precursor to insulin produced in the beta cells of the islets of Langerhans and is encoded by the INS gene, playing a central role in regulating glucose metabolism and blood sugar levels. Abnormal proinsulin levels are associated with conditions such as diabetes and metabolic disorders, making proinsulin a valuable biomarker within the Signal Transduction research area.

The assay uses a colorimetric detection method with a detection range of 0.625-40 pmol/mL and a sensitivity of 0.31 pmol/mL. Intra-assay precision is 5.9% CV and inter-assay precision is 8.9% CV. The kit shows specificity for natural and recombinant human proinsulin. Linearity has been characterised in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilution factors of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, with average recovery of 101% (range 95-107%) in serum and 103% (range 97-109%) in plasma.
