Human Proinsulin (PI) ELISA Kit

Quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie for measuring intact proinsulin, the 9.5 kDa single-chain polypeptide precursor processed within pancreatic beta cells to release mature insulin and C-peptide. Circulating proinsulin concentrations and the proinsulin-to-insulin ratio are widely used indicators of beta-cell stress, with elevated values reported in type 2 diabetes progression, impaired glucose tolerance, gestational diabetes, and longitudinal studies of beta-cell secretory capacity. The procedure accepts blood-derived fractions, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants, supporting both clinical workup of patient samples and in vitro models of islet cell biology. Each kit is supplied as a 96-assay microplate configuration, and the assay is intended for research use only.
