Human Proheparin-binding EGF-like growth factor (HBEGF) ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this sandwich-format ELISA kit enables quantitative measurement of human Proheparin-binding EGF-like growth factor (HBEGF), also known by the synonyms DTR, DTS and HEGFL. The assay uses a colorimetric readout and is intended for use with human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids.

Quantitative performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 11.8pg/mL. Precision values are 4.2% intra-assay CV and 6.8% inter-assay CV. Linearity was verified in serum (89-120% across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions), EDTA plasma (101-117%) and heparin plasma (94-127%). Recovery averaged 93% (range 87-99%) in serum and 95% (range 89-101%) in plasma. The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human Proheparin-binding EGF-like growth factor.

HB-EGF is a growth factor that signals through EGFR, ERBB2 and ERBB4. It is required for normal cardiac valve formation and normal heart function, promotes smooth muscle cell proliferation, is mitogenic for fibroblasts but not endothelial cells, binds EGFR with higher affinity than EGF itself, and serves as a diphtheria toxin receptor.
