Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie as a colorimetric Sandwich ELISA, this kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Proenkephalin-B (PDYN), a secreted precursor protein that is proteolytically processed to form opioid peptides including dynorphin and leu-enkephalin. The assay detects both natural and recombinant human Proenkephalin-B and is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with applications in the neurosciences.

The assay has a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 21 pg/mL, with intra-assay precision of 6.0% and inter-assay precision of 10.2%. Spike-and-recovery testing gave an average recovery of 98% (range 92-104%) for serum and 100% (range 94-106%) for plasma. Dilution linearity was demonstrated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16.

Proenkephalin-B (synonyms: PDYN, beta-neoendorphin-dynorphin, preprodynorphin; UniProt P01213) is encoded on chromosome 20p13. According to UniProt annotation, leu-enkephalins derived from this precursor compete with and mimic the effects of opiate drugs and play a role in pain perception and responses to stress, while the derivative leumorphin has typical opioid activity and may exert an anti-apoptotic effect.
