Human Procalcitonin (PCT) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie's sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative detection of human Procalcitonin (PCT), a biomarker that rises in the bloodstream in response to a proinflammatory stimulus, especially of bacterial origin. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 15.6–1000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 3.9 pg/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 4.7% and an inter-assay CV of 7.5%. The kit has been characterised for specificity against natural and recombinant human Procalcitonin and is supplied for research use only, supporting studies in the area of signal transduction.

Linearity has been evaluated across dilutions of 1:2 to 1:16 for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. Recovery in serum averages 99% (range 93–105%) and in plasma averages 101% (range 95–107%). Kit components include a dismountable microplate, lyophilised standard, sample and assay diluents, detection reagents, wash buffer, substrate, stop solution and plate sealers, stored at –20°C or 4°C as specified.
