The PPDPF target protein, also referenced as EXDPF or C1QDC2, is a secreted signaling factor expressed in developing and mature pancreatic tissue, where it supports the differentiation and proliferation of islet progenitor populations. Investigators studying type 2 diabetes mellitus, beta-cell regeneration, and pancreatic islet biology rely on quantitative measurement of circulating PPDPF levels to evaluate its candidacy as a biomarker of islet stress, beta-cell mass, and metabolic dysfunction in human specimens. The Assay Genie kit is configured strictly for in vitro research use and ships with a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized recombinant calibrator, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash concentrate, chromogenic substrate, and stop solution. Reconstituted components should be kept refrigerated at 4°C for short-term use, with any unused volume aliquoted and stored at -20°C to protect against repeated freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity. A seven-point standard curve is generated from serial two-fold dilutions of the supplied calibrator to interpolate unknown concentrations, with typical intra-assay and inter-assay precision reported below 10% CV across the working range. The procedure accepts EDTA-plasma, heparin-plasma, or serum specimens; hemolyzed or lipemic samples should be clarified or excluded prior to loading. Researchers in endocrinology, metabolic disease, and developmental biology laboratories commonly apply this assay to longitudinal cohort screening, pancreatic islet cell culture supernatants, and conditioned media from pancreatic progenitor differentiation studies.
