The KCNJ5 gene encodes Kir3.4 (GIRK4), an inwardly rectifying potassium channel critical for cardiac atrial repolarization and G-protein coupled endocrine signaling. Gain-of-function and loss-of-function mutations in KCNJ5 are clinically implicated in familial long QT syndrome and primary aldosteronism, particularly aldosterone-producing adenomas of the adrenal gland, making this channel an active target in cardiovascular and hypertension research.

The Assay Genie ELISA platform enables quantitative measurement of human KCNJ5 protein in prepared tissue homogenates, supporting studies of channelopathies, adrenal pathophysiology, and GIRK channel regulation. Each kit includes a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized protein standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, and assay buffer sufficient for 96 determinations in vitro.

Researchers typically load 100 µL of prepared sample and standard per well, and absorbance is recorded on a standard microplate reader. Unopened kit components should be stored refrigerated at 4°C, while lyophilized standards and concentrated detection antibody are best kept frozen at -20°C; protect all reagents from light and limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of working vials. Intended for research use only, not for diagnostic procedures.
