KCNJ10, also known as Kir4.1, is an inward-rectifier potassium channel highly expressed in astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, the stria vascularis of the inner ear, and epithelial cells of the renal distal tubule, where it supports glial potassium buffering, endolymph production, and renal ion transport. Loss-of-function variants in KCNJ10 cause EAST/SeSAME syndrome, an autosomal-recessive disorder characterized by epilepsy, ataxia, sensorineural deafness, and renal salt wasting, making reliable quantitative detection of the channel protein valuable for studies of channelopathies, glial biology, and auditory or renal physiology.

This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie is supplied as a complete ELISA kit including a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, substrate solution, and stop reagent, sufficient for 96 assays. The assay has been validated for measurement of human KCNJ10 in tissue homogenates and cell lysates, supporting research workflows in neuroscience, nephrology, and inner-ear biology. Reconstituted standards should be aliquoted and frozen; working dilutions of the detection antibody can be kept refrigerated for short-term use, and the coated microplate should remain in its sealed pouch with desiccant until first use.
