Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of Podocin (NPHS2) in human samples. Compatible specimen types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids. The assay reports a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078ng/mL, with intra-assay CV of 5.3% and inter-assay CV of 8.9%. Specificity is stated for natural and recombinant human Podocin.

Dilutional linearity data are provided for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 dilutions. Spike-and-recovery testing reports an average recovery of 111% (range 105-117%) for serum and 113% (range 107-119%) for plasma.

Podocin is encoded by the NPHS2 gene (UniProt Q9NP85) and is described as an integral membrane protein with a reported molecular weight of 34,421 Da, contributing to the regulation of glomerular permeability, likely acting as a linker between the plasma membrane and the cytoskeleton. Defects in NPHS2 are noted as a cause of nephrotic syndrome type 2, a steroid-resistant renal disorder. The kit is supplied for research use only and is listed under the Signal Transduction research area.
