Peripheral myelin protein 22 (PMP22) is a transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the PMP22 gene on human chromosome 17p11.2. Alterations at this locus, including the 1.5 Mb duplication underlying Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A) and the corresponding deletion that causes hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsies (HNPP), make PMP22 a major focus of research into inherited peripheral neuropathies, Schwann cell dysfunction, and demyelinating disease mechanisms.

This Assay Genie quantitative immunoassay kit is configured for human reactivity and supplied in a 96 Assays plate format intended for research use only. Researchers employ it to measure PMP22 concentrations in laboratory specimens, supporting investigations of peripheral nerve myelination, gene dosage effects, and biomarker characterization within CMT1A and HNPP patient cohorts. The assay is compatible with standard microplate absorbance readers commonly available in clinical and academic research settings.

By offering a standardized antibody-based measurement workflow, the kit allows comparison of PMP22 levels across experimental groups and complements genetic and histological analyses used in peripheral neuropathy research. The complete kit packaging provides reagents for running the entire plate, supporting batch processing of patient samples alongside matched controls in translational neuroscience programs.
