Human PLOD2 ELISA Kit (HUFI07166)

Fibrillar collagen assembly depends on the hydroxylation of specific telopeptide lysine residues, a reaction catalyzed by lysyl hydroxylase isoforms encoded by the PLOD gene family. The PLOD2 isoform preferentially modifies telopeptide lysines of type I and III collagens, a step required for hydroxylysine-pyridinolone cross-link formation and tissue tensile strength. PLOD2 overexpression is documented in breast, gastric, and lung tumor tissue and is associated with aggressive disease phenotypes. Research applications include cancer biomarker discovery, fibrosis monitoring in hepatic and pulmonary models, and characterization of heritable connective tissue disorders.
