Human Plectin (PLEC) ELISA Kit

The Assay Genie Human Plectin (PLEC) ELISA Kit quantitatively measures plectin, a ~500 kDa cytolinker protein that tethers intermediate filaments to hemidesmosomes, desmosomes, and focal adhesion complexes. The assay is run on a pre-coated microtitre plate with an absorbance-based readout and is validated for tissue homogenates and cell lysates. Because the capture and detection antibodies are human-specific, the kit discriminates endogenous human PLEC from rodent orthologs with negligible cross-reactivity, making it appropriate for translational studies where human samples must be distinguished from animal model background. Plectin loss-of-function mutations cause epidermolysis bullosa simplex with muscular dystrophy (EBS-MD), and altered plectin expression has been reported in hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, and skeletal muscle injury models, supporting research use in dermatology, oncology, and neuromuscular disease studies. Each kit provides a pre-coated plate, lyophilized standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, substrate, and stop solution; unopened components should be refrigerated to preserve antibody activity, and reconstituted reagents should be aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles.
